GOAT Snowboarder

Our assignment was to create a piece inspired by the work of a digital artist. I chose Patricia Piccinini, known for her hybrids of humans and animals. I decided to create a hybrid creature using Photoshop techniques for my project. I combined an image of a Markhor, an Asian mountain goat renowned for its agility, with a portion of a human form to create a centaur-like creature. The Markhor typically inhabits elevations between 2,500 and 11,000 feet, similar to the altitude of many ski areas. Therefore, I included a snowboard for the creature, set against the backdrop of a ski slope.

This portrayal represents the ideal snowboarder, merging the wisdom of the famous centaur Chiron—essential for avoiding unnecessary dangers—with the nimbleness and agility of the Markhor, which is crucial for navigating challenging terrain. Additionally, it reflects human interests in excitement and adventure. However, if such a creature existed, it would likely need to wear a coat on its upper body during the winter. The snowboarding equipment would also need to be modified to accommodate the creature's unique physiology.
